When to See a Neurologist

Headaches on 15 or more days per month
Throbbing pain, often on one side of the head
Nausea or vomiting during attacks
Sensitivity to light, sound, or smells
Visual aura (flashing lights, zigzag lines) before attacks
Painkillers needed more than 10 days a month

How It Is Diagnosed at the Clinic

Diagnosis is clinical: a structured headache history and neurological examination, with a headache diary to count attack days. MRI is reserved for red-flag features. The clinic screens for medication-overuse headache, which mimics and worsens chronic migraine.

Treatment Options

  1. 1CGRP-targeted biologics: Aimovig, Emgality, Vyepti
  2. 2Botox injections every 12 weeks (PREEMPT protocol)
  3. 3Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks (GON, supraorbital, SPG)
  4. 4Acute and preventive medication optimisation
  5. 5Trigger management and headache-diary coaching
