What It Is

EEG records the brain's electrical activity through small scalp electrodes. It is the key test for diagnosing epilepsy, classifying seizure types, and evaluating unexplained loss of consciousness — available as routine and video-EEG.

What to Expect

Painless — electrodes only record, nothing enters the body
30–60 minutes including hyperventilation and flashing-light activation
Come with clean, dry hair; sleep-deprived EEG may be requested
Video-EEG pairs the recording with camera footage of events
Interpreted personally by Dr. Ebied

Who It Is For

Patients with seizures or possible seizures, blank spells, unexplained blackouts or falls, night-time events, and children (6+) with staring or jerking episodes.

Aftercare

None — electrode gel washes out with normal shampoo. A normal EEG between attacks does not exclude epilepsy; interpretation always pairs with the clinical story.

Frequently Asked Questions

Activation steps (flashing lights, deep breathing) occasionally provoke findings — that is diagnostic gold, and the setting is fully controlled and safe.
